Joe Loethen

Joe Loethen, P.E., is a senior design and construction professional with over 30 years of experience spanning civil engineering, facilities management, and large-scale program leadership. A registered Professional Engineer, Joe holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology and has built his career driving complex, high-value projects from concept through completion.

Joe spent the majority of his career at Walmart, where he rose through a series of progressively senior roles. Most recently, he directed a $1 billion pavement program across the United States, leading a team of program managers, improving customer satisfaction ratings from 85% to 93.5%, and implementing an AI-driven facility assessment system to deliver more consistent results. Prior to that, he managed a team of 60 facilities managers and technicians across the west-central U.S., overseeing maintenance operations for nearly 100 stores.

Earlier in his Walmart tenure, Joe led the design and construction of distribution centers, data centers, and retail stores — overseeing projects ranging from $50,000 drainage repairs to $150 million mission-critical facilities. He began his career in municipal engineering roles in Missouri and with a civil engineering firm in Arkansas before joining Walmart in 1997.
